How many of you have gotten The Gang’s All Meer from the Sale-A-Bration catalog? It was one of the first FREE items I ordered. The little Meerkats are so dang cute!! I posted a Joy-Fold card using this set a short time ago. Today, my card takes the literal meaning of “stand-up,” as in stand-up comedian, etc.
The Card
To make this little guy look like he is in the spotlight, I stood him up on a platform-stage that I designed using the Cake Builder Punch. I put banners, made from the Bonanza Dies, above to create a stage-like look, with the illusion of a spotlight behind him, designed with a silver foil sheet and 1 3/8″ scallop circle punch. The paper behind him sort of looks like I sponged it but, I didn’t. It is a piece of designer series paper (DSP) from the See A Silhouette package.
Up Close
In this photo, it is easy to see that I used watercolor pencils to color the meerkat and smoothed the lines with the aqua painter. But the bow!! From where did that come? I borrowed the bow from the Nine Lives stamp set, which is a cat-set from the annual catalog. Amazingly, it fits this little guy perfectly!! Up close, you can also see that the sentiment was silver heat-embossed onto Night of Navy cardstock and die-cut with a Stitched Rectangle die then popped onto the page with dimensionals.
Finishing Detail
Finally, I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card as a finishing touch. As you can see, I mixed and matched several different Stampin’ Up! products to come up with this card. I find that it is fun for me to “play” with the different stamp sets, papers, and tools to come up with a truly one-of-a-kind card.
