WHO IS JUDY GARZA?
Thank you kindly for taking the time to get to know more about me!
I grew up in Northern Illinois, near Rockford. I met my husband while working in Chicago, and now we are from Victoria, Texas (between Houston and Corpus Christi). Pablo and I are celebrating 43 years of marriage. We have four grown children, four grandchildren, and we just lost our white miniature schnauzer aptly named “Blanca.”
I am an R.N. by trade. Being math and science-oriented, I did not use the creative side of my brain much. In my world, everything lined up straight, and there was a right answer; everything else was a wrong answer.
I grew up thinking that I had had a “creative by-pass” when I was very young. I must confess that I flunked art once in grammar school.
My introduction to Stampin’ Up! was in 2007 when my friend Barbara said that “we” could make the rehearsal dinner invitations for my son’s upcoming wedding. Although I laughed, thinking she must have a mouse in her pocket, I went to “help.” It was that weekend that my creativity was released and, I have been creating ever since!
HOW DID I BECOME A DEMONSTRATOR?
Helping to handcraft my son’s rehearsal dinner invitations, I was intrigued by how many techniques could be used to craft a card to get different looks. Barbara noticed my interest so, she gave me a current catalog to peruse on my two-hour flight home.
As I visited each page, I was awed even more. I decided to start a hobby, so I started making a list of things I needed (interpreted as “wanted”). This list was long and, I almost talked myself out of it but convinced myself to go forward. When I called Barbara my order, she told me she could not take that large order, that I should sign up to be a demonstrator. I laughed and laughed! I didn’t even know what *I* was doing, much less teaching someone else. When she explained that I never had to hold a class or party but could be my own best customer, I acquiesced. In short, I signed up for the demonstrator discount.
A few months later, Barbara came to visit me. I got a few ladies together so we could show them my new-found hobby. One lady used our punches and, she wanted them all and wanted them all right now. I told her I could not take that large order and that she should sign up to be a demonstrator (I learn well). That was the beginning of my team and this fabulous thirteen-year journey with Stampin’ Up!
THE COMPANY
The Stampin’ Up!® company, co-founded by Shelli Gardner, is a fantastic company! The organization is now lead by CEO Sara Douglas, one of Shelli’s daughters. The employees at the main office that I interact with are always friendly and helpful. Moreover, this innovative company stays positive, listens to their demonstrators, and is continually changing to better their best. I love being a small part of this company!
I am an enabler, enabling others to release their creativity through paper, stamps, and ink. Believe me when I say that if I can do this, so can you!
MY BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND FUTURE GOALS
Currently, I teach private classes, have stamp clubs, host a five-day retreat every summer, and paper-craft for fun. To date, all of my Stampin’ Up!® business has been in person. Although I have made many new, fabulous friends doing in-person events, I want to add another dimension to my business by taking it online. I hope you will often visit my blog, be inspired, and if you do not already have a demonstrator, order from me. In short, if you want a little, place an order. If you want a lot, host a party (even an online party). But, if you want it all, join my team!
