It is an honor for me to be hopping along with my fellow Maui Trip Achievers this month! As you look at the Peaceful Poppies Suite in the January-June Mini Catalog, you might be wondering how in the world, a masculine card can come out of that suite. It is so bright and cheery and flowery. But it can be done. I admit that I had to use some other products along with the suite, but it works for me!
The Card
It is easy to miss the Pool Party and White pattern in the Peaceful Poppies designer series paper (DSP) on page 25. This pattern is the first layer on the Early Espresso card base. I had to go to the Annual Catalog to find the masculine 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon. Of course, the sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in the suite, as well as the die I used to frame it. The teardrop-shaped die-cuts used are found in the Sale-A-Bration catalog; Lily Pad Dies. These dies are available FREE with a qualifying order. I like the look of them in the background.
Tips:
You can make this card with minimal time and effort because it is pretty straight forward. The only suggestions I can share are to use mini glue dots to adhere the burlap ribbon to the DSP panel. Then, use them to adhere the Early Espresso row of the die-cut over the ribbon. I placed the glue dots in the very center of several “teardrops.”
The little bow on the framed sentiment is not a bow at all. I cut the burlap ribbon apart so that I had a strip about 3 or 4 strings wide then, tied that into a knot, adhered it to the left side of the framed sentiment with a glue dot. Remember when stamping the sentiment, to save room on the left for the bow then, attach to the card front with dimensionals. For clarity, I used Early Espresso for the card base and bottom die-cut, Night of Navy for the middle die-cut and, Pool Party for the top die-cut.
