Hello! Welcome to the Thursday Create with Connie & Mary Challenge. I enjoy being a part of this Challenge Team and love the color challenges. My team leader, Barbara Vogt, is here for my spring retreat, which started yesterday. In helping prepare for the retreat, she designed this card for me after we brainstormed what to do. The Playing in the Rain designer series paper (DSP) has all the colors in the challenge. So the card features a little turtle sending sunshine and good feelings! With no further ado:
The Challenge:
The Card:
Don’t you love this darling turtle? He was cut from the very edge of the DSP; hence part of the shell is missing. The raindrops, stamped in the “grass” with Evening Evergreen ink, give some depth to the Old Olive cardstock torn along the upper edge. The fun, multicolored DSP in the background adds the sunshine and good feelings Mr. Turtle is sending.
The Turtle Sunshine Card Details:
This card is straightforward, so I am not going to list each layer, etc. Suffice it to say that the Flirty Flamingo base is 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored and folded at 5 1/2″. As is customary, each layer on the card front is trimmed down 1/4″ of the width and length. So, the Mango Melody is 5 1/4 x 4; then the DSP is 5″ x 3 3/4″. Following this, a 3 3/4″ piece of Old Olive cardstock is torn along the upper edge to simulate grass.
Along with the stamped accents, as mentioned above, the adorable Loose Daisey Embellishments were added. As can be seen in the photo above, the inside repeats the Mango Melody layer but with a Basic White layer adorned with a 1/2″ strip of the same DSP used on the front of the card.
An Up-Close Look at Mr. Turtle:
This up-close photo shows the shine on the turtle shell and around the daisy from the Specialty DSP. It also offers more detail on the Loose Daisty Embellishments. If you do not have these, they are so worth having. There are so many in the packet! And, indeed, the torn edge of the Old Olive cardstock can also be seen.
I hope you like our card this week and will return next Thursday for more inspiration. Click HERE to see what the other design team members have created for your inspiration.
