Hello, and welcome to another Create Thursday by Create with Connie & Mary. I have enjoyed creating this adorable thank-you card using the Happy Hedgehog stamp set from the annual catalog. The little birdie tells the hedgehog, “it’s so nice of you…” Let’s take a look at the color challenge.
The Challenge:
The Card:
With no one around, these two are having a happy little conversation. I love the sentiment in the Happy Hedgehog stamp set and the Spring vibes the card sends out. The background on the card base is embossed with a new embossing folder from the online exclusives. I am lucky to have it because, as a demonstrator, I could pre-order it before it was available to everyone. It is one of the Basics embossing folders that ran out quickly. I am glad they are an online exclusive; everyone will have another chance to get them once they arrive. Currently, they are marked as not available.
The Details of the Nice of You Card:
The Measurements:
- Card Base – Gray Granite cardstock (CS) – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score and fold at 4 1/4″
- Layer 1 – Gray Granite CS – 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, embossed with a Basics 3D embossing folder.
- Layer 2 – Pale Papaya CS – 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
- Layer 3 – Basic White CS – 4 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
- Layer 4 – Basic White CS – 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″, die-cut with the second smallest Stylish Frames banner die.
- Inside Layer 1 – Pale Papaya – 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Inside Layer 2 – Basic White CS – 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
- 6″ length of Pale Papaya Faux Velvet Trim
The Nice of You Card Assembly:
- Glue Layer 1 to the card base. Banner the ends of the Faux Velvet Trim using scissors, then adhere it diagonally across Layer 1 with Seal+.
- Stamp the tree using Soft Suede ink onto Layer 3. Use Gray Granite to stamp the other images on this layer, as shown. Color the images as you wish. I used Stampin’ Blends in Pale Papaya Combo, Soft Succulent Combo, and Gray Granite Combo. I added the grass with a Soft Succulent Stampin’ Write Marker. At first, I used the foam tip but then went back and added multiple lines on and between the thicker ones with the narrow end.
- Use Soft Succulent ink to stamp the sentiment onto Layer 4. Trim the right edge off straight and dimensional it onto Layer 3, as seen in the above photo.
- Adhere Layer 3 to Layer 2, then dimensional Layer 2 onto Layer 1, over the ribbon.
- Scatter some Champaign Rhinestone Jewels on the card front.
- Stamp “Thank You” from the Go To Greetings using Soft Succulent ink on Inside Layer 2. Adhere Inside Layer 2 to 1, then inside the card.
Exciting Time at Stampin’ Up!
This afternoon is an exciting time at Stampin’ Up! We, demonstrators, will view the upcoming annual catalog in a pdf format. And we will get to see what colors in our color collections stay and which are being replaced. Of course, everyone will not be happy with all the colors leaving because we each have our favorites. But, I trust Stampin’ Up!, after being a demonstrator for 15 years, that we will all grow to love them. Also, we get to see the new In-Colors. This is a most exciting time to be a demonstrator and get early access to what’s coming! If you are interested in being “in the know,” click here to join my team as a demonstrator!
