Welcome to this week’s sketch Challenge by Create With Connie & Mary. I have a friend who just finished a marathon, and I am so proud of his accomplishment that I will send him this card of congratulations.
The Challenge:
The Card:
Following the sketch challenge, I used Enjoy The Journey designer series paper (DSP) for the 1″ strips across the Cajun Craze card base. The oval is cut using the back of the same sheet of DSP. What a fun, quick, easy, and unisex card this turned out to be.
The Congratulations Card Details:
The Measurements:
- Card Base – Cajun Craze cardstock (CS) – 11″ x 4 1/4″, score and fold at 5 1/2″
- Layer 1 – DSP – 4 1/4″ x 4, cut into (4) 4 1/4″ x 1″ strips
- Layer 2 – DSP – 4″ x 3″, die-cut with the smallest oval in the Framed Florets Dies. (Used the back side of the same DSP)
- Layer 3 – Basic Black CS – 3″ x 2″, die-cut with the silhouette of runner die from Greatest Journey dies.
- Inside Layer – DSP – 4″ x 5 1/4″
The Assembly:
- Glue the four pieces of Layer 1 to the Card Base, leaving approx. 1/8″ gap between the strips, as shown.
- Use Soft Succulent ink to stamp grass along the bottom of Layer 2, then use a sponge or sponge dauber to add Tuxedo Black ink to the perimeter of the oval.
- Glue Layer 3 to Layer 2. Dimensional this unit onto Layer 1, as shown.
- Use Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the congratulations from the Something Fancy stamp set on the bottom right corner of Layer 1.
- Scatter a few Matte Black Dots.
- Adhere the Inside Layer and leave it blank to write a note or decorate as desired. (Note: I cut the inside piece from closer to the top of the DSP where it is lighter colors.)
An Up-Close Look:
The above image shows more detail of the back side of the DSP, the stamped grass, and the sponging of black ink around the perimeter of the oval. I love the subtlety of the sentiment in the lower right corner, allowing the eye to focus on the runner and mountains. I hope you are inspired to use this DSP.
