Hello Everyone! Thank you for visiting my blog today, which features a birthday card to meet the Create with Connie & Mary Thursday Challenge. Check out the sketch challenge.
The Challenge:
The Birthday Card:
This sketch is a fun, straightforward sketch challenge. I used bright colors, flowers, and vibrant ‘bling’ for this feminine birthday card. I used this sketch to make a masculine card on this blog yesterday. You can see it HERE. I love it when I find a quick, easy layout that I can use for many different occasions. A design that I can adapt for men or women by using different colors or designer series papers. (DSP)
How I Made It:
The base of the card is Granny Apple Green. I used Versamark to randomly stamp leaves from the Happiness Abounds stamp on the left half of the card front. Next, I cut a 1″ x 4 1/4″ strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock (CS) and Hues of Happiness designer series paper (DSP). Finally, I cut one Daffodil Delight CS strip 3/4″ x 4 1/4″. Starting about 1/4″ from the right side of the card front, I glued the DSP strips, butting one against the other. ***Please note that the Happiness Abounds and ALL stamp sets in the Annual Catalog (excluding hostess sets) are 15% off for the 24 hours of September 15th, 2022***
Finally, I cut a strip of Highland Heather (CS) at 3/4″ x 3 1/2″. I angled the ends slightly with my Paper Snips, then stamped the sentiment with Gorgeous Grape ink. You can see a bit of the inside of the card peeking out in the photo above.
The Inside of the Birthday Card:
By using the same colors and DSP on the inside of the card, I have tied the inside and card front together. Do you generally decorate the inside of the card, write a personal note or both? I added a 1″ strip of DSP on the Daffodil Delight layer, and I then glued that to the Gorgeous Grape panel and inside the card.
Up-close:
Of course, I needed to add some vibrant ‘bling’ near the sentiment on this card, and I found the Glossy Dot Assortment to be perfect.
