We have a color challenge for the Thursday Challenge with Connie and Mary. I created my card with Sentimental Swirls.
The Challenge:
The Card:
Today’s card is using stamps, paper & ink. Well, until I added the Rhinestone Basic Jewels. However, there is no coloring, no dimensioning, no fancy or time-consuming anything. And, I love it for its simplicity.
The Details:
As you can see, I stepped a bit outside of the color challenge by adding the birdie at the top right. I made the card in the second week of March and used blue and yellow to honor all the Ukrainian people who are dealing with such devastating times and conditions; keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.
The measurements are the usual measurements for a standard USA greeting card which ends up fitting in a standard A2 envelope: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored and folded at 4 1/4″. Both the card front and the inside panels are 4″ x 5 1/4″. There are a couple of tips I will give you about creating this card. First, when you have a stamp that is larger than the stamp pad, which the swirls stamp is, tap the stamp pad onto the stamp instead of tapping the stamp onto the pad. It is less messy and I tend to get a more even application of the ink. Second, since the swirls stamp is pretty big, have an extra 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Basic White handy. I had to aim and stamp twice to get both swirls onto the panel and intersect the way they do.
Finally:
And finally, the last tip is to stamp the birthday sentiment far enough down to add the birdie, if you want to. Of course, you could stamp an all-blue bird or any other color your heart desires. As the finishing touch, I added a small Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the center of each flower.
I hope you like my card and will try the Sentimental Swirls stamp set. You can see what the other design team created HERE.
