Welcome to the first February Thursday Challenge by Create with Connie & Mary. We have a color challenge that I met with a Tulip HB card. I hope you like it.
The Challenge:
The Card:
How much fun would it be to get an entire field of flowers for your birthday?! (Never mind, they are only on a card) I started by cutting two full-length rows of tulips in Real Red, Blushing Bride, and Highland Heather cardstock (CS) using the Tulip dies. I trimmed along the die indention at the bottom of each die-cut piece. Next, I used liquid glue on the bottom base-strip of each row and began layering them onto the Pear Pizzazz card front from the bottom to the top, tucking each layer behind the already attached layer. Finally, turning the card over, I trimmed the excess to be even with the edges of the card.
Tulip HB Details:
I stamped the sentiment on the first card I made after gluing on all the flowers. I stamped it crooked! GRRR! So, I trimmed the bottom of the card front off along the lowest line of flowers and cut it along the scoreline. Then, I glued the flowers onto a new card front after stamping it, making a new card. Finally, I added a few red rhinestone jewels for bling then, got busy on the inside of the card.
The Inside:
First, for the inside, I used Real Red ink to stamp the sentiment from “Flowering Tulips” on the Basic White CS cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ then mounted it to a Real Red panel of CS measuring 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. Finally, I glued the layered panel inside the card.
Up-Close:
Here is an up-close look at the sentiment accented with the Red Rhinestone Jewels. And, I quite like the bit of dimension given by adding the layer of flowers on top of the new card base! See, it all works out in the end. So, if you need a birthday card for a friend, try this fun Tulip HB card!
