Hello! Thank you for joining me today for the Thursday Challenge by Create with Connie and Mary. I am honored to be part of the design team that makes samples of cards that meet the challenge to inspire you to play along. You can post your cards on the CCMC Facebook Page. My card today is to wish someone a beautiful day. We have another “Case the Catalog” challenge, as seen below.
The Challenge:
The Card:
I love the bird in the Etched in Nature stamp set. Depending on how it is colored, it can be several different birds. The sentiment is from the Very Versailles stamp set. The Stitched With Whimsy Dies were used to add a subtle element of interest to the card front.
The Measurements:
- Night of Navy Cardstock (CS) – 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5 1/2″ and 2 5/8″ square.
- Basic White CS – 3″ square and 2 1/2″ square. Inside – 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
- Pale Papaya CS – 2 5/8″ x 1-1/8″. Inside 3 3/4″ x 5″
The Details:
To begin, I used the largest die from Stitched With Whimsy on the card front. The bird was stamped with Early Espresso ink onto the smaller of the two Basic White square panels. Next, it is colored with the following Blends: Top of the Bird – Night of Navy Blends Combo Pack; the bird’s belly is colored front to back from dark to light using Pumpkin Pie Combo Pack, Pale Papaya Combo Pack, and just the dark Petal Pink from the Combo Pack; the limb and bird legs are colored with the Crumb Cake Blends Combo Pack. The bird’s beak is colored with Pale Papaya.
After all the coloring was finished, I layered it onto a panel of Night of Navy then dimensioned it onto a larger square panel of Basic White. Finally, I glued it to the card front, as shown. I used Night of Navy ink to stamp the sentiment and border from the Very Versailles stamp set and added it to the card front with dimensionals.
The Finishing Touches:
I adhered two Genial Gems to the card front, one on each side of the sentiment for the finishing touch on the card front. And, although I did not stamp anything on the inside of the card yet, I did layer the inside (as you can see in the photo of the card that I took from a side angle). Layer 1 inside is the largest Basic White panel, followed by Layer 2 of Pale Papaya, and finally, Layer 3 is the remaining Basic White panel. This layering pulls the color scheme from the card front to the inside of the card.
I hope you like my Beautiful Day all-occasion card and will join the challenge today and post your card on the Facebook page. If you would like to replicate this card, the products used are listed below.
