No Coloring Birthday Cake Card

Hello Everyone! Today’s card is a little tricky but super simple once you see how to do it. Let’s take a look!

The Card

Do you see that the cake is stamped directly onto the Whisper White card base with Tuxedo Black Memento ink? Now, HOW do you get that to line up? I will tell you the steps in “details.” I love that the flowers are stamped on Best Dressed Designer Series Paper (DSP) so they are “colored” without coloring! OK, let’s get to the details of the card.

The Measurements

Whisper White Thick – 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored and folded at 5 1/2″
Petal Pink – 5 1/4″ x 4″
Best Dressed DSP – scrap to die-cut flowers

The Details

I did the steps in this order and the card came together quickly and very easily.

1) **Stamp the cake on the Petal Pink panel, near the top.

2) Stamp Happy Birthday near the bottom, leaving room for the ribbon.

3) Die-cut the cake from the Petal Pink card.

4) Dry emboss horizontally with the Subtles 3D Embossing Folder.

5) Glue the Petal Pink Panel to the card front.

6) Stamp the cake through the die-cut hole. (This is easiest if you use the Stamparatus. Position the clean stamp in the opening till you feel it wiggle right inside the opening, pick up the stamp with the plate, ink up and stamp) Or, alternately, you can wing it if you’re feeling lucky.

7) Use the flower die to die-cut the DSP.

8) Make a template. Use a larger piece of cardstock and die-cut the flowers in the middle of it. Use this in your Stamparatus. After positioning your cake stamp to match where the flowers should stamp, place the DSP in the template and stamp the flowers onto the DSP.

9) Mount the flowers on the card front with dimensionals.

** Step number one could be omitted. However, if you stamp it first, when you die-cut the cake, you will be left with a useable, stamped cake for another project. If you omit step #1, do step #3 before step #2.

Finishing Touches

In this up-close photo, you can see that the flowers are on dimensionals. To complete this card, I added some Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-edge ribbon. Had I thought about this earlier, I may have added it before gluing the panel to the card front. However, I am not sure that it would not interfere with stamping the cake using the Stamparatus. Sometimes things just work out the way they are supposed to, right?
