Welcome to this month’s edition of the Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop! We are a group of demonstrators who do this blog hop every month to share inspiration with you. After you view my card, I hope you will continue to see what the other demonstrators have made by clicking the following link at the bottom of this post. This month our theme is Garden Flowers or Harvest. I knew immediately that a couple of “sleeper dies” in the annual catalog would make a delightful garden card.
The Card:
As stated above, I knew I would use two “sleeper dies” for my card. You may be asking, “What is a sleeper die?” It is what I call the die sets that are only shown as samples in the main body of the annual catalog but are not associated with a specific stamp set. Therefore, they are not sold in a bundle but can only be seen in the “dies” section at the back of the catalog. (pg. 162-167) Many sets look confounding and may be ignored. So, here you get to see two “sleeper die sets” used on one card.
Delightful Garden Details:
As seen in the photo above, the only stamping on this card is the sentiment. The rest of the card is made exclusively from die-cut cardstock. The background leafy pattern is cut with one of the Gorgeous Garden dies. Then, all the layers of petals for the largest flower are cut with one pass through the die-cut machine with a die from the Paper Florist dies. The two smaller flowers are also cut with one die. The center of the large flower was created by cutting one die twice. Once the die-cutting is finished, the flowers are simple to assemble and adhere to the card front, after which I added a basic rhinestone jewel to the center of each.
Measurements:
- Base Layer – Old Olive cardstock (CS) 8.5″ x 5.5″, score and fold at 4.25″.
- Layer 1 – Soft Sea Foam CS – 5.25″ x 4″
- Layer 2 – Old Olive CS – 5.5″ x 4.25″, die-cut with the leafy die from Gorgeous Garden dies. Tip: be sure to die-cut with an equal border on all sides.
- Layer 3A – Berry Burst CS – 3″ square, die-cut with the four-petal layers die.
- Layer 3B – Berry Burst CS – 3.75″ x 1.5″, die-cut with the smaller, four-petal “plus” dies.
- Layer 3C – Bubble Bath CS – 2.5 x 1.5″- die-cut two of the floral centers (as shown)
- Layer 4 – Bubble Bath CS – 2.25″ x 0.75″ – stamp with Berry Burst ink, snip left end into a slant.
- Inside Layer: Basic White CS – 5 .25″ x 4″
Assembly:
- Adhere Layer 2 to Layer 1, then to the card Base.
- Assemble Layer 3A + 3C and Layer 3B. Attach in the lower left corner of the card front.
- Adhere Layer 4 to Layer 2 on the right side, close to the flowers, as shown.
- Add a Basic Rhinestone Jewel to the center of each flower.
- Adhere the Inside Layer and decorate as desired.
Up-Close View:
In the photo above, the assembled flowers can be used as a guide to putting them together yourself. The ladies in my class were surprised at how easily this card came together. I will be posting cards using other “sleeper dies” next week. I hope you will check back! Until then, peruse the other demonstrator’s postings. I know we are pretty short of a dozen this month, but it is summer, and people are busy enjoying family and traveling.
Have a great weekend!
