Welcome back to my blog! Think color. Think Challenge.
A Challenge:
The Card:
Leaves and sprigs of greenery radiate from the sentiment circle on this Thinking of You card. We were all “thinking color” this week while designing for this color challenge of Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, and Lost Lagoon. I love the returning color of Lost Lagoon because it is a color that can look blue if with other blues or green when with different colors.
The Thinking of You Color Challenge Card Details:
I am using a new stamp set in the Annual Catalog on page 96. This is Rachel Tessman’s Million Dollar Achiever’s stamp set. Thank you to Rachel for a stamp set that uses one of our punches!! It allows a card to come together more quickly.
The Measurements:
- Base: Calypso Coral Cardstock (CS) – 8.5″ x 5.5″, score and fold at 4.25″
- Layer 1: Petal Pink CS – 5.25″ x 4″
- Layer 2: Calypso Coral CS – 3″ square, punched with the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch.
- Layer 3: Lost Lagoon CS – (2) 1.5″ x 8.5″, stamp and punch with the Bough Punch
- Layer 4: Very Vanilla CS – 2.25″ square, die-cut with the third largest Stylish Shapes circle die.
- Inside: Petal Pink CS – 5.25″ x 4″
Assembly:
- Stamp two horizontal and two vertical positions of the leaf stamp in the center of Layer 1, extending close to the outside edges. This is a two-step stamp. Stamp the lined image first, then use the “filler” stamp to add stamped-off Lost Lagoon ink.
- Adhere Layer 2 to the center of Layer 1 over the stamped images.
- Stamp 6 leaves and 2-4 sprigs on Layer 3 with Lost Lagoon ink using the same technique as the stamping on Layer 1. Set aside.
- Use Calypso Coral ink to stamp the sentiment on Layer 4, then dimension to the center of Layer 2.
- Using pieces from Layer 3, tuck and glue the boughs and sprigs under Layer 4.
- Adhere the inside layer of the card and decorate as desired.
A Look at the Inside:
Here is one idea for the inside of the card. The sweet sentiment and the speckling stamp make the great inside for this card. I hope you like it.
Up-Close View:
The stamped boughs of leaves can be seen more clearly in the photo above. I might add a few more stamped leaves if I had it to do again. Overall, I am pleased with the card; it will be easy to mail without any gems. Of course, I (or you) could always add a few gems to bling the card up!
