Welcome to the Thursday Challenge by Create with Connie & Mary! I am featuring new and returning colors in my Celebrate birthday card today.
The Challenge:
The Card:
I love the returning colors in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog, so I used Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon, and Berry Burst on my card today. The pinkish-purple frosting and birthday banner are made with a brand new color named Bubble Bath. In my opinion, when put all together, these colors make a bold statement.
The Celebrate Card Details:
The Measurements:
- The Base – Pretty Peacock Cardstock “CS) – “.5″ x 5.5″, score and fo”d at 4.25”
- Layer 1 – Lost Lagoo” CS – 4″5″ x 3.25″, embossed with a Basics 3-D Embossing Folder
- Layer 2 – Berry Burst CS – 4.25″ x 2.75″, embossed with the (dots) Basics 3-D Embossing Folder
- Layer 3 – Bubble Bath CS – 4.25″ x 0.5″
- Layer 4 – Basic White CS – 3″ x”3″, punched with the 2 3/8″ circle punch. (since my punch had not arrived by the time I made this card, I used a retired 2 1/4″ circle punch)
- Layer 5 – Berry Burst and Bubble Bath Scraps.
- Inside Layer -Basic White CS – 5.25″ x 4″
Assembly:
- Adhere Layer 1 centering onto the Base.
- Adhere Layer 2 to Layer 1 at an angle.
- Use Pretty Peacock ink to stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from Sentimental Park stamp set onto Layer 3. Adhere to Layer 2, as shown in the photo.
- Use Pretty Peacock ink to stamp the circle of ‘celebrate’ onto Layer 4—glue, as shown, over Layer 3 and onto Layer 2.
- Stamp the cupcake on both scraps of Layer 5, then trim around the frosting portion on Bubble Bath using Snips, leaving some space at the bottom for glue. Trim the cupcake holder on Berry Burst CS, then glue to the frosting and dimension onto the circle’s center.
- Sprinkle a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the front as the finishing touch.
- Add the inside layer and decorate as desired. Next is a photo of how I decorated the inside of my card.
The Inside:
I added a small strip of Berry Burst CS to the bottom of the inside layer to coordinate it with the card front. I used two sentiment stamps from the Circle Sayings, stamped in Pretty Peacock. The new colors have been a joy to use for crafting cards.
An Up-Close Look:
As you can see in this up-close photo, the pairing of these colors is yummy! And you can also see that I snipped just outside the stamped line when trimming the cupcake and holder. I am pleased with how the card turned out, and I hope you are too. Give it a try! All the products I used are listed below.
On a more personal note, there has been some severe weather around Texas. I hope all of you are safe and want to let you know the worst we got was a windy, heavy rainstorm, but we were okay and had no damage. Now, I encourage you to click HERE to see what the other talented demonstrators made for your inspiration. My next blog post will feature the new In-Colors! Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you will return.
