Welcome to the Create Thursday Challenge with Create with Connie & Mary. I am using the new Best Day stamp set (available now – 160798), with the kitty cupcake, from the 2023 January-April Mini Catalog for today’s color challenge.

The Challenge:

The Card:

Would you look at this kitty cupcake of cuteness? I used the Best Year stamp set (available now – 160798) from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog. Let’s look at this card a little closer. Can you see that the balloon is more than stamped? Yes, instead of stamping and coloring the balloon with Blends, I stamped the balloon on Sweet Sorbet cardstock (CS) and cut it out.

Next, I turned the image upside-down on my Pierce Mat. Using the large stylus tip of my Take Your Pick tool, I gently pressed while rubbing the stylus in circles from the middle out to the edges. This gives the balloon dimension. I used multipurpose liquid glue (Tombow) only around the edges and added it over the stamped balloon. Of course, the stamped balloon could be colored with Sweet Sorbet Blends marker instead. I just thought I’d try this and liked how it turned out.

In this photo, the dimension of the balloon can be seen more clearly. I used Linen Thread to tie a double bow, then frayed the ends using the piercing tool on my Take Your Pick tool. I added it to the focal image with a mini glue dot. To color the focal image, I used the colors of today’s challenge: Sweet Sorbet, Mint Macaron, and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends, plus the Crumb Cake Combo, Black Blends, and a touch of Wink of Stella on the pom-pom atop the birthday hat. Following is a close-up of the coloring.

Finally, to finish the card front, I used the largest two banners from Stylish Shapes dies, cutting from Balmy Blue and Sweet Sorbet CS. I white heat-embossed the sentiment onto the Sweet Sorbet banner, dimensioned it on top of the Balmy Blue banner, and then glued it to the card front under the Kitty Cupcake.
