I have a fabulous card to show you today, designed by Dawn Olchefski. I used it in my card clubs last month. It is a simple-yet-wow card that uses the Painted Poppies stamp set, and the Painted Labels Dies shown on page 26 of the 2020 January-June Mini Catalog. Everyone loved it, so I want to share it with you. Try it – you’ll like it!
The Painted Poppies Birthday Card
So, what do you think? I love it! The base of the card is Poppy Parade cardstock 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″ The Basic Black layer is 4 1/4″ x 3″ with a Whisper White layer of 4″ x 2 3/4″. The most reasonable use of Stampin’ Up!®’s beautiful designer series paper (DSP): 1″ x 4″ is glued to the bottom of the Whisper White layer. I hid the seam with a 3/8″ x 4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. Two ink colors and three stamps are all it takes to make this impressive poppy.
Details
I stamped the flower with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock then stamped the floral ‘blotch’ with Poppy Parade ink over it. Finally, I die-cut the flower with the coordinating die. After stamping the leaf image twice, with the same ink onto an Old Olive cardstock scrap, I die-cut them out with the coordinating die. Once I glued the leaves to the poppy, I popped it up onto the card front with dimensionals by following Dawn’s design.
Close-up view
I added a faceted gold gem to the center of the flower, which gave it the perfect ‘bling.’ The Happy Birthday sentiment came from the FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set named Sending You Thoughts. I hope you like this card as much as I do and will try it yourself! If you do not have the Painted Poppies stamp set or bundle, NOW is the perfect time to order them. Spring is right around the corner! Welcome her with open arms with the Painted Poppies.
Thank you for your support and your business! I appreciate you.
