Hello, stampers! Welcome to another Thursday Challenge offered by Create with Connie & Mary. We are again challenged to make a card casing the catalog. My card is one of encouragement, especially for someone with health issues.
The Challenge:
The Card:
This card showcases white heat embossing on Vellum cardstock. I love how it makes the Queen Anne’s Lace flowers stand out! In the photo above, you get a sneak peek of the inside of the card. Sometimes people need a little encouragement, especially when struggling through medical treatments for serious illnesses. I think this card is a lovely way to send encouragement.
Measurements:
- Night of Navy Cardstock (CS) – 4 1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5 1/2″
- Basic White CS – 2 5/8″ x 4 3/8″, 3 3/4″ x 5″ (inside)
- Balmy Blue CS – 2 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ (inside)
- Vellum CS – 2 1/4″ x 4″
The Details:
I used the largest Stitched with Whimsy die on the card front. After white heat-embossing the Vellum cardstock, I attached it to the slightly larger Balmy Blue panel using mini glue dots behind the embossed areas (to keep them from being seen through the vellum). I adhered this element to a Basic White panel and then to the card front with multipurpose liquid glue.
The Inside:
I carried the theme from the card front to the inside by stamping the Queen Anne’s Lace with Night of Navy ink and using an additional Balmy Blue mat.
Finishing Touch:
Immediately after white heat-embossing the vellum cardstock, I used my dark Night of Navy Blends marker to color the White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon. Doing it early in building the card gives it time enough to dry completely before making the bow. The ability to color this ribbon with blends makes it one of the most versatile ribbons in the catalog! I love that. Ultimately, the bow was added to the vellum with a mini glue dot.
