Relax – CCMC695

Create with Connie and Mary Design Team BadgeWelcome to this week’s Thursday Challenge by Create With Connie & Mary.  You know, sometimes the most productive thing we can do is relax; the sentiment inside today’s card.

The Challenge:

The Card:

A side view of an "in my thoughts" card using only Stampin' Up! products to fulfill the CCMC695 Thursday Sketch Challenge. The image shows a young lady looking out to the sky and/or water, seeing birds in flight. She is holding a glass of wine.

I am so excited to be using one of the new stamp sets in the 2022 January-June Catalog, combining the new stamps with retiring Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I begin with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Beauty of the Earth DSP and cut 1″ off the side, then cut 1″ off that strip, making a 1″ x 1″ piece and a 1″ x 2 3/4″.  Next, I cut 1″ off the bottom of the remaining large rectangle giving me a 4″ x 1″ and a 4″ x 2 3/4″ piece. I arranged the four pieces on the front of a Night of Navy card base.  I cut another 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of the DSP for the inside of the card.

The Details:

An "in my thoughts" card using only Stampin' Up! products to fulfill the CCMC695 Thursday Sketch Challenge. The image shows a young lady looking out to the sky and/or water, seeing birds in flight. She is holding a glass of wine. One must envy this gal that gets to relax outdoors and watch the birds leisurely fly past. I stamped the image from In The Moment stamp set with Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the following Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs: Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Polished Pink, and Daffodil Delight, and Ivory. A Stampin’ Write Merry Merlot Marker is used for the wine. I masked the image and added Balmy Blue with a Blending Brush to look like the sky. Finally, I held the circle of cardstock perpendicular to a Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker to add the thin line around the edge.

More Info:

An up-close look at an "in my thoughts" card using only Stampin' Up! products to fulfill the CCMC695 Thursday Sketch Challenge. The image shows a close-up of the young lady looking out to the sky and/or water, seeing birds in flight. She is holding a glass of wine.

In this up-close picture, the wine looks almost real. I achieved the look by adding Fine-Tip Glue to the wine area and setting it aside to dry completely.  It performs similarly to Crystal Effects, and it dries clear and keeps the raised shape. It is a neat way to make liquids look natural on a card.

Another thing to notice is the blue rhinestone jewels. I colored the Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels with my Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Marker.

The Inside:

The inside of the "in my thoughts" card that show the Stampin' Up! sentiment from the In The Moment stamp set that reads, "Sometimes the most productive thing you can do it RELAX."Confession time has arrived. I thought it would be so awesome to stamp the sentiment about relaxing directly onto the DSP on the inside of the card. I did, and it was crooked! Yes, it happens to all of us at one time or another. So, to correct it, I added a layer of Basic White to the inside and told myself to RELAX!  I hope you like the card. The stamp set cannot be listed in the product listing because it will not be available to order until January 3rd.   Now it is time to go HERE to see what the other talented team members have created to fulfill this sketch challenge. If I do not see you before, I want to wish every one of you a very Merry Christmas!
