Thank you for visiting my blog today! Please click on the title of the blog post if you are reading this in an email. I would appreciate that. And, I appreciate your patience in my blogging absence. My husband and I had some R&R in Las Vegas this past week, and I did not get to blog while we were gone. But, here I am today to show you these cards I made using Stampin’ Up!®’s Pigment Sprinkles for the background. Have you tried them yet?
The Pigment Sprinkle Card:
I made the background using Shimmery White Cardstock, a Stampin’ Spritzer and, Pigment Sprinkles in Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, and Gorgeous Grape. After lightly sprinkling the cardstock with the Pigment Sprinkles, I held the spritzer high and away from the cardstock to get a fine water mist on the sprinkles without spritzing them off the page. Once dampened, I brought the spritzer closer and spritzed away, watching the colors blend and run. On this card, I used more Granny Apple Green than any other color. I have a card below where I used more Bermuda Bay.
Although the Detailed Bands dies are made to coordinate with the Band Together stamp set, I used the ‘Here’s A Card’ stamp set with them. I like the result.
Up Close:
Can you see how the Shimmery White cardstock allows the shimmer to show through the colors? It is quite lovely in person!
The Second Pigment Sprinkles Card:
Here I used the same layout but added more Bermuda Bay sprinkles. I spritzed more, and the colors really bled and ran together, making this background darker. Even though it is darker, the shimmer still shows through. I have had several clubs and classes and polled the ladies as to which card they liked better. It was about 50-50. I think it depended on which of the predominant colors they liked better.
The Measurements:
Gorgeous Grape – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored and folded at 4 1/4″, 5 1/4″ x 3″ to die-cut the detailed band
Whisper White – 5 1/4″ x 4″, scrap to stamp and die-cut the sentiment
Shimmery White – 5″ x 3 3/4″
Details and Tips:
Spritz the back of the Shimmery White cardstock before placing it on paper towels or another barrier to protect your table from water and color. By spritzing the back, the cardstock will not curl up as much when you add your pigment sprinkles and water and let it dry. You can speed the process by using the low setting on the Stampin’ Up!® Heat Tool. I used our multipurpose liquid glue to glue the spritzed panel to the Whisper White panel. After that, I added it to the card front. Finally, I used dimensionals to add the stamped and die-cut sentiment to the Detailed Band, then glued that unit to the card front.
One more tip is to do several pieces of this background during one stamping session. Then, the extras can be set aside for the next time you need a WOW card in a hurry! The “hardest part” (drying) will be finished so all you have left to do is stamp the sentiment, die cut two things and assemble. This is a great way to Stamp More. I hope this intrigues you enough to purchase these pigment sprinkles and try them if you have not done that already. Please click on any item in the product list to be taken to my online store to order some today if you have not already ordered them!
