Stampers Dozen-Spring Color Challenge

Welcome to another month of the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! We have a color challenge this month; to use Lemon-Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Granny Apple Green and, what I failed to see, Grapefruit Grove, to make a card. This is my take on the challenge.

THE CARD:

I chose the “Birthday Statements” stamp set. I love that Stampin’ Up! has so many different ways to color on a card! As you may be aware, there is water-coloring, Blends coloring and, water-pencil coloring to name a few. As you can see, I chose to use a blender pen to color this image.

To start, I simply used the base of my hands to press the lid of the ink pad to the base of the pad thus pressing ink onto the lid. Next, I picked up the ink from the lid with the blender pen and colored onto the image that I had stamped with Early Espresso ink.

As a result of me not paying attention, I did not see all four colors in the color challenge or I would have used Grapefruit Grove ink instead of the Daffodil Delight ink on the balloons. However, I discovered this once the card was completed so, I must call on you to use your imaginations or, better yet, pull out your stamps and copy the card but use the Grapefruit Grove ink in place of the Daffodil Delight. The leaves are colored with Granny Apple Green, the darker green, while the balloons are colored in Lemon-Lime Twist, Pool Party and (oops) Daffodil Delight. Early Espresso was then added to the center of the flowers.

Lemon-Lime Twist – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored and folded at 4 1/4″

Berry Burst – 5″ x 3 7/8″ and 5″ x 3 3/4″ for inside

Early Espresso – 4 5/8″ x 3 5/8″

Whisper White – 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ for inside

Instructions and tips:

As I have said before, the main image was stamped with Early Espresso ink and colored as described above. The Early Espresso ink is water-based. As a result, it can smear with too much rubbing over it with the blender pen. Try to avoid this. The sentiments on the card front were stamped with Berry Burst ink.

I used the sentiment from the hostess stamp set Very Vintage for the inside of the card. Of course, this set will be retiring on June 3rd, just as all hostess sets do each year. Now is the time to earn this set by 1) placing a $150 dollar order or 2) inviting some friends to join you to stamp and order supplies that jointly total $150. Personally, I love this set!

Details:

I used the detailed Trio punch to round the lower left and upper right corners of the Early Espresso and the Whisper White cardstock to add interest to the design. And finally, I added several pearls to the card front using the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.
